Tafsir al-Jalalayn is a brief interpretation of the Qur'an, written by Jalal al-Din al-Muhalli, and completed by Jalal al-Din al-Suyuti.

Definition of interpretation:

The first part of it was composed by Jalal al-Din al-Mahalli, where he began with the interpretation from Surat al-Kahf to Surat al-Nas in addition to Surat al-Fatihah, and al-Mahalli died in the year 864 AH before completing the rest of the interpretation. "Tafsir Jalalain".

Al-Suyuti began completing the interpretation at the beginning of the month of Ramadan in the year 870 AH and finished it on the tenth of Shawwal of the same year.

Al-Mahalli in his interpretation tended to be very brief, and Al-Suyuti followed this approach, as he said in his introduction to the interpretation that he tends to “brief expression, leaving lengthy by mentioning unsatisfactory sayings, and syntax replaced by Arabic books.” Even the author of Kashf al-Zunun mentioned about some Yemeni scholars that he said: “I enumerated the letters of the Qur’an and its interpretation of the Two Majesties, and I found that they are equal to Surat al-Muzzammil, and from Surat al-Muddaththir, the interpretation is additional to the Qur’an. Therefore, it is permissible to carry it without ablution.”
