The subject matter of the book includes seven chapters, from which chapters and titles branch out. The book begins with a brief chapter on Omar in the Jahiliyyah, then a chapter on him with the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, and it contains chapters on his conversion to Islam, his migration and his companionship, then a short chapter on him with Abu Bakr, then a long chapter with multiple chapters on “Umar, the Commander of the Faithful” at the end. A chapter on “his firsts”, and after it a section on “Umar the Writer” containing chapters about his sermons, books, treaties, wills and words, and about him with poetry and poets. His virtues, injury to his opinion, his insights, and his dignity, and finally a section on his killing in which several chapters.
The book was concluded with a section on Abdullah bin Omar written by Naji al-Tantawi and it falls on thirty-few pages, and it contains chapters on his personality, his worship, his asceticism, his piety, his stance on sedition, his sayings, his words, his family, his children, and separate news about him.
