Thinking is an Islamic duty

Acting with the mind is one of the orders of the Creator, and nothing hinders it from working except the keenness to observe the common custom, to follow the example of the predecessors and follow their footsteps, and the fear of worldly authority. Islam calls for overcoming all these obstacles and liberation from them, so that thinking comes sound and is not hindered by any of these obstacles that lead to paralysis and stagnation of the mind.

It is self-evident that the call to thinking is accompanied by a desire for knowledge, i.e., for the totality of knowledge that a person comprehends, because thinking is not straight and correct unless it is based on correct knowledge.
