Shaykh al-Islam Ibn al-Qayyim, may God have mercy on him, said: “The souls never need something greater than that of knowing their maker and originator, loving Him, remembering Him, rejoicing in Him, seeking means to Him and being close to Him. And to Him is nearer, and whenever it is denied to Him, He is more ignorant of God, and to Him I hate and more distant from Him.
